Many of America’s children are hurting. They have more questions than answers. For a variety of reasons, a loss of family life has damaged their view of the world and others.
Students arrive at FCA from a variety of difficult backgrounds. Some come from single-parent homes. Others have parents who cannot provide the guidance and support needed at home. Some students have absentee parents, and are being raised by a relative. No matter what the situation is, our students desperately need the sure foundation of Christ-like love.
These young people are all hurting and share many common disadvantages, including overwhelming feelings of anger, fear of abandonment, lack of discipline, disrespect of authority figures, feelings of unworthiness, a sense of academic inferiority, or just aimlessness regarding direction or purpose in life.
Until these young people know that God loves them and are taught how to overcome these disadvantages, they will grow up and live out a cycle of dysfunction and despair. This scenario is detrimental to them personally and to society. Alarmingly, the numbers of these hurting children seem to be growing every year and include children of younger and younger ages.
Our commitment to our students has remained the same for decades: to create a warm and nourishing environment reflecting the values of a Christian family and a Christ-centered education, a powerful combination that can bring about a radical change of life.
